Manager, Transmission Design and Maintenance

Location: Fergus Falls, MN (hybrid workdays and flex time eligible)

Our employees’ impact can take many forms. In this role, the Manager of Transmission Design and Maintenance will lead a team to ensure our system remains reliable and resilient for our customers.

Some examples of those activities will include: • Oversee the technical design of transmission lines and distribution standards to ensure reliability long into the future after they are constructed. • Develop and optimize maintenance strategies such as inspections and vegetation management to manage the full lifecycle of T&D assets by leveraging system data and industry best practices. • Represent OTP on various industry groups related to maintenance best practices and mutual aid. • Improve future design and maintenance philosophies by reviewing lessons learned from previous tasks and projects.

Some examples of what we’re looking for include: • There’s a lot of innovation in our industry and we want positive, can-do, resilient people who demonstrate a passion for leadership and continuous improvement. • OTP leaders need to have a confident interpersonal and communications skills to effectively manage and develop their team and to create positive and effective relationships with various internal and external stakeholders. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience working in electric utility transmission or distribution areas. • Proven success in managing multiple complex projects is a must. • To be successful in this position, knowledge of utility transmission and distribution design theory, principles, and regulations is required. • The department oversees a lot of work performed by contractors.
