The College of Engineering is seeking a software developer to implement Java-based web applications.
Position Summary:
This candidate will have the opportunity to participate in all phases of the application development cycle consisting of: meeting with clients to collect and analyze requirements, preparing the application and database design, implementing the application, and maintaining it throughout its lifetime.
Job duties require an in-person/on-campus presence for at least an initial period of training.
Unit Specific Education/Experience:
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year degree in computer science, information systems, business, or other related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in developing and managing software; knowledge of and experience with object oriented programming principles, experience in Java, MVC web development, HTML, CSS, JavaScript; knowledge of and experience with one or more relational database management systems (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle) and SQL; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Education/Experience:
A bachelors degree in information technology or computer science; theoretical and practical knowledge of database design and implementation; experience in the development, maintenance, testing and design, and support for internet/web applications; experience with Struts, Spring Hibernate, WildFly application server, Maven and version control systems (CVS, Git); knowledge of the efficient implementation of algorithms and performance optimization, ability to analyze and solve complex problems, converting business requirements into technical designs and code implementation; willingness to seek out new technologies and stay ahead of the curve, meet project deadlines, and expectations; excellent work habits; demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; and experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment; strong verbal and written communication skills.
