Information Technology Data Scientist

This position is responsible for supporting the strategic data initiatives that drive business profitability, insight, increased efficiencies and improved customer experience. The ideal candidate is adept at using a variety of data assets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. The candidate must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing solutions, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations; a proven ability to drive business results with their data-based insights; comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams; and a passion for discovering
solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes. 

What qualifications are needed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Five to seven years of experience transforming and analyzing data from multiple sources to drive business
    insights and using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.).
  • Two to five years of experience with visualization tools and data spreadsheets, including Cognos, Power BI
    and Excel.
  • Knowledge and experience with data science toolkits such as Matplotlib, Pandas, NumPy, and GitHub.
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques, algorithms, and their real-world advantages/
    drawbacks.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts and experience with applications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of statistical models and business intelligence.
  • Self-starter and intellectual curiosity to seek solutions without direction.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience successfully partnering with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders within the FHLBank to drive improved outcomes for the business through analytics.
  • Proven ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and detail orientation.
  • Proven ability to deliver presentations to stakeholders that tell a compelling story using analytics relevant
    to the audience.
  • Passion for continuous learning.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prefer two or more years’ experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Must be able to work and travel independently and use general office equipment
