Description JOB SUMMARY:

Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

The candidate will be responsible for installation, configuration, integration, release management, maintenance, troubleshooting and performance tuning of the Business Objects 4.1. The Senior Business Objects (BO) Developer will create and maintain SAP Business Object Universes and Web intelligence reports. Complete report optimization and development leveraging the company's reporting platform. Assign security, setup new Business Objects users, reset Business Objects passwords and moving transports. Work closely with clients and IT teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions. It is essential that Senior Business Objects Developer build an understanding of the business at a level of detail that enables them to identify and address critical issues. They provide data that is accurate, congruent and reliable, and ensure the information is easily available to users for direct consumption or integration with other systems. Educate and train clients to use the data as an analytical tool, displaying the information in new forms and content for the purpose of analysis and option exploration.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

This position reports to the Enterprise Reporting Manager and is responsible for the monitoring and maintain AVANGRID's Business Objects Enterprise (BOE) technical environment. This position will also assist in the designing, building, testing, and implementing of SAP Business Warehouse and Business Intelligence (BW/BI) solutions.

  • Monitor system performance and usage; Auditing; Housekeeping ;Tuning.
  • Perform BOE landscape promotion management.

  • Maintain BOE security across all folders and users.
  • Support BOE client's tools - Webi and Crystal Reports as required.
  • Assist in the design, development and testing of SAP Bl/BW/BOBJ/HANA components needed to support analytical requirements.
  • Participate in configuration, testing, and training efforts for report creation, enhancements and delivery.
  • Assist in the update of documentation, scripts, and training documentation impacted by changes to the SAP Bl/BW/BOBJ.
  • Assist Enterprise Reporting Team to create standards, procedures and documentation for BW solutions.
  • Serve as team member on various projects, implementing business intelligence solutions.
  • Perform other Business Objects related tasks as defined by the organization.
  • Monitor analytics and metrics results.
  • Provide technical support for existing reports, dashboards, or other tools.
  • Develop policies and procedures for the collection and analysis of data.
  • Identify appropriate technologies to use in order to deliver effective solutions to achieve business requirements.
  • The quality of the judgments and technical decisions will have a significant effect on the successful outcome.
  • Capability to apply objective and logical decision making in a timely manner and of assessing the extent and significance on the uncertainties associated with these decisions.
  • Formulate a range of strategic scenarios and technical options based on definition of current and future business requirements and detailed evaluation of all internal and external solutions.
  • Influencing where appropriate, adoption of new processes to match the chosen system or technology.
  • Liaise with other areas within AVANGRID companies where necessary.
  • Pursue robust personal development plans ensuring Business Intelligence Analysis skills remain current and up-to-date.

    Requirements Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or specialized training/certification
  • Two to four years working with Business Objects, preferably as an administrator
  • Experience with SAP BW architecture and development
  • IBM Websphere 7.0 or higher
  • IBM Web server administration
  • High level of problem solving skills
  • High ability to manage concurrent tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Strong business analyst skills (gathering requirements, working with users, understanding user requests)
  • Experience with Business Objects 4.1
  • Experience with Webi
  • Experience with SAP BI/BW
  • Experience with BI reporting tools
  • Experience and understanding of SQL
  • Experience with and knowledge of data warehouse and OLAP principles
  • Requirement to travel within AVANGRID area
  • Knowledge of emerging and evolving technologies
  • Data analyst experience/knowledge highly preferred


  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office Professional application suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio)
