The National Security Agency Research Directorate is looking for an energetic and innovative researcher to develop, manage, and evaluate advanced technology programs to explore and develop new computational paradigms.

The Research Directorate has an immediate need for an Advanced Computing Technologies Researcher to perform research and development for HPC, and actively develop, pursue and manage technology investment strategies in support of overall goals.

Description of Job Duties:

- Collaborate on projects with both internal and external researchers.
- Develop and implement a capability to support quantification of energy, performance, resilience, and cost of non-traditional HPC systems.
- Support architectural exploration by internal researchers.
- Quantify value of technology development/investment for specific applications to support component and system level research decisions.
- Maintain effective communications on project status with both the internal government team and external contractors. Skills In addition to technical excellence, this position requires a strong team player with excellent customer service and people skills.  The successful candidate should be proficient in communicating/documenting research results and progress to senior government leaders. An inquisitive nature and a strong willingness to learn new things is an absolute necessity for success. Qualifications Salary Range:  $94,796 - $145,629 (Senior)

*The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position.

Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 7 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.

Degree must be in either (1) professional Engineering, (2) Physics or Astronomy from an accredited college or (3) a relevant professional technical field (e.g. chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, geology).

For all of the above degrees, if program is not ABET EAC accredited, it must include specified coursework.*

*Specified coursework includes courses in differential and integral calculus and 5 of the following 18 areas: (a) statics or dynamics, (b) strength of materials/stress-strain relationships, (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics, (d) thermodynamics, (e) electromagnetic fields, (f) nature and properties of materials/relating particle and aggregate structure to properties, (g) solid state electronics, (h) microprocessor applications, (i), computer systems, (j) signal processing, (k) digital design, (l) systems and control theory, (m) circuits or generalized circuits, (n) communication systems, (o) power systems, (p) computer networks, (q) software development, (r) Any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, or soil mechanics.

Relevant experience must be performing professional engineering or physical sciences work and/or conducting academic or independent research in a technical field (e.g., mathematics, engineering, cognitive sciences and physical sciences). Experience on polymath projects (requiring multiple skills), technical publications, patent applications, and teaching are preferred.

Salary Range:  $131,767 - $161,900 (Expert)

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of:
- Computer Architecture
- High performance computing (HPC) system design (Resilience/Energy Efficiency)
- HPC subsystem design ' memory, storage, processor architectures, etc.
- High Performance Computer (HPC) Application Development
- HPC development of large scale analytics applications
- Machine Learning
