Position Summary

Supports and maintains computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. Troubleshoots problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provides end user training and assistance where required.

Job Functions

  1. Works with end users to identify and deliver required PC services.

  2. Acts as a liaison and provides training and support to end users and staff on computer operations and other issues.

  3. Installs, configures, tests, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots level III end user workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products.

  4. Installs, configures, tests, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots associated end user workstation software and networking software products.

  5. Performs on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of semi-complex PC problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware solutions, including off-site repair as needed.

  6. Receives and responds to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding PC and/or hardware problems.

  7. Helps maintain an inventory of all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, printers, scanners, and other peripheral equipment.

  8. Assists in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring PC performance.

  9. Documents instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.

  10. Constructs, installs, and tests customized configurations based on various platforms and operating systems.

  11. Recommends, schedules, and performs PC, hardware and peripheral equipment  improvements, upgrades, and repairs.

  12. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of hardware and equipment contracts and supervises contract-based installations.

  13. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree

  • At least 2 years related experience; will consider equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of Associate's degree

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent technical knowledge of network and PC hardware.

  • Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards.

  • Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.

  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.

  • Self-motivated and directed.

  • Keen attention to detail.

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • Strong customer-service orientation. 


$10.61 /Hr

Work Schedule & Conditions

PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment.

Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.

Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
