Job Description: 

Associate Application Systems Analyst-Hospital Billing and Claims 

This is an entry level systems analyst position that is expected to serve in a variety of roles based on the current needs of the department.

 

Candidates preferred with operational or technical experience supporting hospital back-end revenue cycle functions such as insurance claims and remittance processing, self-pay collections, remittance and payment posting, and banking and credit card processor relationships. 

Typical duties include the following:

Performs basic system maintenance as directed.

Responsible for trouble shooting and resolving end user issues and questions

Assists in formulating and defining systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with a basic understanding of business systems and industry requirements.

Assists in preparing detailed specifications from which programs will be written.

Works to develop comprehensive system test procedures / scripts and performs system test execution as directed

Escalates critical issues to senior analysts and management to ensure that operation and service level metrics are adhered met.

Assembles departmental dashboards, activation scorecards, operational statistics and other reporting needs in accordance with the reporting schedules

Job Qualifications: 

Education:

Bachelor?s degree in computer science or equivalent field of study OR equivalent experience (Legacy Health employees only) required. Masters Level degree in computer science, management information systems or health administration preferred. 

Experience:

Demonstrated experience in working within an information systems environment. Requirement may be met through prior work experience, internship, or college-level projects.

Experience with computerized healthcare systems preferred. 

Skills:

Basic understanding of current developments and trends in data processing and health care systems.

Ability to do systematic, thorough problem solving and initiate client problem resolution.

Ability to establish, conceive and describe systems, design, flow charts, time schedules and network requirements.

Strong interpersonal skills that allow for effective working relationships with a wide range of people.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.
